A Contemplative Comparison Of To Do Lists – Bypassing The Ascent Of Unpredictability In Life’s Mountain Climb To Find Peace In Downhill Skiing’s Graceful Descent

When you look at the difficulties and opportunities that face you in life, it is easy to make to do lists that make it feel like you are about to ascend a mountain. You know that the climb will be tough and that there are many factors that you won’t be able to account for.  The terrain, the weather, the people you will meet along the way, and many other things are all factors that you cannot predict, regardless of your expertise in “climbing mountains.” You know that it is far more difficult to go uphill than to go in the other direction, so you set your mind like a flint to accomplish the task of going up the mountain. Climbing to the mountain top will be slow, and you lack the information needed for every unpredictable event. You prepare for the worst, hoping to God that everything will go…

‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly OR How Some People View Giving As A War!

Over twenty years ago I lived overseas in Japan as a conversational English teacher and discovered the most unique “giving tradition” that I have ever heard of! The people of Japan are known for being very generous, to the point of absurdity, at least when it comes to making their friends happy. This may be due to a general cultural weakness within the people of Japan. This is THE FEAR OF NOT MAKING SOMEONE HAPPY or The Fear of Offending someone whom you are supposed to be honoring. Giving honor to whom it is due is among the highest unspoken rules of etiquette among the people of Asia in general, but especially among the Japanese. Due to this overarching fear that inhabits the people of Japan, they have come up with a very unique method to defeating the consequences of this problem, which really can cause them to lose face…

What I Have Learned From The Wonderful Game Of American Football

When I was growing up, football was one of my favorite sports.  Everyone played the game and definitely followed their favorite teams. Being that I was raised in Wisconsin, it goes without saying that I would be a Packer fan, and a very strong Packer fan I was…and still am… as the saying goes, “Once a Packer fan, always a Packer fan!” The long and short of the game is that you have to carry a pig-skin ball that has a rather unique shape across about 100 yards of grassy turf to the end zone and risk your life trying to do just that! I started out as a touch “Nerf” football street football player and became a real legend in my youth. Not to brag, but I was one of the fastest players, even on the tackle football team in the 7th grade, so to play football in the…

How To Win At Life By Overcoming The Lust Factor

There are many things that are projected at the human race in general in the world that we all live in. We all put up with many things regardless of where we are from, what our religion, race, color, or creed happen to be.   There is a concerted effort from the spiritual side of life to drag everyone down into the “mud” of life.   This is without a doubt a form of warfare against humanity in general and it does come from the Devil and his principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness in the heavenly realm, just as Paul the apostle wrote of it in his letter to the people of Ephesus – about 2000 years ago.   Some of the things that war against us come in the form of thoughts, while other things are blatant advertisements that draw pictures in all of our minds to get us…

Conquering Fear Through The Soundness of Wisdom

Fear is an irrational issue of the heart affecting people in a fight or flight manner of expression of the heart and soul. Fear can do a number of other things to a person, like making you freeze up or keep your distance from things. These are the main ways that fear affects people, though other issues of the heart can springboard off fear to cause a person problems, such as doubt and unbelief etc…, knowing the truth of any topic and all of the facets (side issues) that accompanies it will bring you the confidence you need to then have the understanding to protect you from the storms of life.It is much like a pillar that stands strong under a roof – holding it up. Knowledge gives you the understanding you need to move forward with confidence about the many issues of life that affect all of us. Hence…

Looking For The Good In Yourself And Others – The Golden Path To Success…

In the world of focus there is nothing like looking deeply into a subject! Let’s take a deeper look into the topic of believing you can do something that you are focusing on. Alright, so here is the concept: “Believing that you can is not a difficult thing to do if you simply focus on the right things.” It is a known fact that children are taught from a young age to focus on what they can accomplish verses what they cannot. This is seen in the short story (usually watched in a film) of “The Little Train That Could!” The whole purpose is to get the child to focus with repetition on the phrase, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can…” Eventually the train climbs the mountain and rejoices in that he did it – knowing that he could. OK, so backing away from this…

Celebrating Old Glory!

In the light of the upcoming U.S. Presidential Elections, let’s think about the sacrifices that the early Americans made for the freedoms all Americans hold dear. Here’s to the symbol they chose to represent their great ideals and the sacrifices they made to make us free! Here’s a video to catapult your patriotic thinking into a really good place about the U.S. Flag and some of its history:

A Tale Of Two Pillows

Once upon a time there was a man named “No-Dose” who had a very difficult time sleeping. He decided to embrace the idea that sleep and pillows coincided! Yes it’s true! He believed that a good night’s rest directly related to the type of filling inside of his pillows. He went from store to store looking at the different types of pillows available and finally figured out that just as birds of a feather flock together, so do a good night’s rest and the right type of feather filling! Eventually he came upon the right types of pillows with the right types of feathers that would make his sleep exceedingly comfortable. After a short time of testing the various pillows in the stores, he discovered that he needed to do a long-term sleep test to find out which pillows would fit him the best. He happened upon the two best…

The For-Factor

The “For—Factor” is the most important factor that exists in life, but what exactly is it?   To best sum this up, you must simply consider just how important the word “for” is, as it is usually used in keeping with other words, preceding them in a way that implies something else is more important than the word “for” which often implies possession.   For example:   This is for you… There is something for them… Who is it for? I am all for that! etc…   Basically, the word “for” or “fore” is somewhat of a connecting word that lends itself to the usefulness of another word that implies something is coming or won’t be allowed, such as:   Forgiveness Forbearance Forewarn Forfeit Foreshadow Forestall Forgathering Forbid Forecast Foretell Forevermore etc…   This is a very small list of words that begin with the word “for” or “fore,” but…

Finding Value In The Digit – Contracts, Money, and What You Put Your Faith In

When you go to the grocery store and buy something you need, do you ever consider the deeper transactions that are going on lawfully or monetarily in front of your eyes or behind the scenes? If you never thought this way, allow me the pleasure of helping you to understand things from my perspective! Let’s take look at just what happens when you purchase something from a store. First, you must give a monetary unit of equal exchange value to the store so that you can possess the item you want.  Since most people aren’t involved in the literal bartering of goods for goods (commodities), they use money. Money usually comes in two different forms, at least in our modern civilized day:  a. cash and coins  b. credit or debits from an account – i.e.:  digits.  Years ago people used coins (silver, gold, & metals of other types), but some…
